Fantastick Deal on Tums and Gaviscon

A couple weeks ago I told you about the Tums $4 and Gaviscon $6 coupon that you could request by mail.(no longer available). I haven't received mine yet but I hope I will soon.

I have an even sweeter deal to tell you about today. I was in Shoppers Drug Mart and noticed some coupons on the shelf for Tum-$2 when you buy any 2 bottles exp March/2012 and Gaviscon-$2 when you buy and size or format Exp March 2012

I also noticed this great deal!
Receive a free* $10 Shoppers Drug Mart gift card when you spend $20 or more before taxes on Gaviscon®, TUMS®, ENO, beano® and/or phazyme® products between May 23rd - June 19th, 2011, while quantities of gift cards last. (Total redemption limited to one (1) $10 Shoppers Drug Mart gift card per household.) Click here I didn't notice anything that said you couldn't use coupons on the items.

Tums are on sale this week for $3.99(60-150's) If you purchase 6 bottles @ $3.99=$23.94 less three $2 coupons(from shelf)=17.94-$10 gift card= $7.94/6

You pay $1.32 per bottle. These usually last quiet a while but remember to check the expiration dates on the bottles.

I prefer Gaviscon so I will hold out and wait for my $6 coupon and hope it is on sale before June 19th.

Sensodyne Toothpaste-Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

I was excited to be chosen by Mom Central for the Sensodyne review and giveaway.  Why?  I have been using Sensodyne toothpaste for over 20 years!  In particular I use the Sensodyne-F  Brilliant Whitening.  I drink a lot of coffee and tea and it helps to keep my teeth nice and white.  I was also sent the ISO Active foam and toothbrushes to try out.  The foam was very foamy so you only need a tiny bit.  It was nice to be able to try out this new product which also comes in a whitening formula.

Unfortunately, myself and my siblings all suffer from extreme tooth sensitivity.  In fact it is so severe that our dentist's say that we have the most sensitive teeth they have ever seen!  My tooth sensitivity is to cold.   It is so bad that when I get my teeth cleaned at the dentist they can not spray water in my mouth or I will jump through the roof.  When I need a filling, no matter if it is small or large I need a triple or quadruple freezing, It's not fun.

Don't Forget the Sensodyne

My family and I went to Florida this past February for one week.  When packing for the trip I made sure that I did not exceed the limit for liquids when packing.  This meant I brought two travel sized toothpaste samples I received from the dentist's office, neither was for sensitive teeth.  I though that it only being for a week I would be OK.  BIG mistake!

By the third day of my trip my teeth were getting very sensitive.  I blame myself.  If I would have packed my Sensodyne I would have been able to enjoy the Harry Potter "Butter Beer" at Universal and the Dippin' Dots Ice Cream at Gatorland.

Some Facts about Tooth Sensitivity and Sensodyne

44% of adults suffer from tooth sensitivity?  It’s not a disease, but a condition that usually develops over time.  Most suffers are between 20 and 50 years old, but that span is growing.

Sensodyne is the #1 recommended brand for sensitive teeth by dental professionals and it also won Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Brand for 2011. When you brush with Sensodyne every day, you don’t have to compromise your favourite toothpaste benefits like cavity protection and fresh breath.  Sensodyne provides clinically proven sensitivity relief while it also fights tartar with regular brushing, prevents cavities, removes plaque with brushing, helps keep gums clean with brushing and freshens breath.

A New Premiere Babysitting Exchange for Moms brought to you by Sitswap.ca

Childcare is Finally Affordable With New Online Network

      sitswap.ca affordable childcare Toronto
Affordable childcare is soon just a click away.  SitSwap.ca – an online network bringing experienced moms together is launching in 26 cities across Ontario on June 8.

The online service will link mothers who need a break from childcare, without the traditionally expensive childcare fees. Members can search and form a trusting relationship with another local mom to exchange babysitting services.

The service couldn’t come at a better time, said www.SitSwap.ca creator, Tracey Cairns.
“The lack of affordable childcare in Ontario is a very hot topic today. There are 18,000
children on a childcare subsidy waiting list in Ontario alone," said Cairns. “I really want
to help women who feel trapped at home with little ones. Moms need regular breaks to
refresh and for personal self‐growth. SitSwap is their free ticket out."

By using the SitSwap network, members are leaving their children in the care of a
trusted caregiver not a stranger. Members are encouraged to take their time – and to
form trusting relationships first before the exchange of childcare begins. They’re in
      control of the screening process.
      sitswap.ca affordable childcare Toronto

The benefits? “Get free time to yourself, save money on childcare, rely on experienced
mothers as caregivers, and make new friends in your community," said Cairns.

Prior to the launch, SitSwap is looking for moms to explore the website and spread the
good news. They will be rewarded with a free 6‐month premium SitSwap membership.

“SitSwap.ca is all about cost‐effective childcare,” said Cairns. "Join SitSwap and get your
'me time', moms. You need it!"
SitSwap.ca - Happily helping Moms in Toronto, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Woodbridge, Maple, Concord, Brampton, Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, Stouffville, Aurora, North York, Milton, Oak Ridges, Unionville, King City, Whitby and Newmarket.

      Easy Bailout Budget Dinner

Do you have a few meals that you use on days when you are super busy?  I call mine "Bailout" meals.  We were so busy this past long weekend and when the clock struck 5PM yesterday I didn't have the energy left to cook.  Did I order out?  No way! Here is one of my family's favourite bailout dinners.

      1/2 a bag of frozen multigrain tilapia fillets($9 on sale-$1 coupon=$4 for 1/2 bag)

1 pouch of Betty Crocker Homestyle Potatoes (Box on sale $1.67-$1 coupon=67 cents, 2 pouches per box=33 cents)

1 can of baked beans (on sale and VIP SPC discount 44 cents)

2 heads of fresh broccoli steamed ( $1.69)

2 small zucchini sauteed with olive oil ($1)

While I put the fish in the oven and steamed the broccoli my older daughter made the potatoes and chopped the zucchini.  The little one opened the beans and set the table.  Total cost for this quick and easy dinner was $7.46.

What is your favourite Bailout meal?

My Holiday Weekend Plans Including Wonder + Simply Free & Family Fun

I was outside today trying to get some gardening done in between rain showers.  It has been so cold, windy and rainy this Spring I actually forgot about the long weekend coming up!

The weather this weekend actually looks like it will be dry and sunny, thank goodness.  Some long weekends we go to my In-laws cottage but this long weekend we will be staying home.  Since it has been so rainy we have a lot of outside work to catch up on.  We are also renovating our basement so the list of things to do is long.
      photo: Canadian Living

Now, it's not going to be all work, it is a holiday weekend.  If the weather co-operates we will dig out the Frisbee, soccer ball and bicycles and heading over to the conservation area to have some fun and ride the trails.  One thing we will be doing rain or shine is having a BBQ, it's a Victoria Day tradition for us!  We usually serve homemade beef burgers, veggie burgers,  hot dogs and grilled veggie kabobs with tropical salsa,  potato salad and macaroni salad. Hopefully the rain stays away because I have been waiting patiently all Winter for smores!

Being a Mom I am always looking for tasty, healthier options when feeding my family.  There are great recipes on Canadianliving.com for juicy extra lean burgers and zesty chicken burgers.  I might make both since I already have ground beef and ground chicken in my freezer.  We also just picked up a new kind of hot dog made without preservatives.  Check out this great article about healthy barbecuing here.
      photo: Wonderbread.ca

It is perfect timing that Wonder Bread has just come out with a new product called Wonder + Simply Free.  Wonder+ SimplyFree is Canada’s first and only Nationally branded line of bakery product that is free of artificial colours, artificial flavours and artificial preservatives. It is also free of high fructose corn syrup.  The new Wonder+ simply free is available in a loaf, hot dog buns and hamburger buns.  I like that the bread is free of artificial ingredients just like my homemade hamburgers will be!

I have a great tip to share with you too.  I always had a problem when making burgers to get them all about the same size without getting out the scale.  Now here's my trick.  Once I add all the ingredients to my ground meat I mix it gently then pat it out on plastic wrap or parchment into a rectangle.   I then score the meat into equal sections so everything is pretty even.
Tropical salsa, a BBQ must have at my house

      Spring is Here?

The calendar says that spring is here but I’m not sure Mother Nature was notified.  Getting snow storms in April and ever constant rain in May is definitely not what I want to be seeing!

I thought a bit of spring cleaning may bring about some warmer weather. (Fingers crossed)  Time to make my spring cleaning list.  Leading a busy life as most moms do, I find that if I don't write things down I will usually forget something.  I have actually gotten up in the middle of the night to write something down about a school trip or bake sale.

When I start my spring cleaning I like to go room by room and make a list of what needs to be done. There is something about crossing things off of a list that I find very satisfying!  I am most productive if I spring clean while the kids are at school. This assures me that there will be no distractions or interruptions!

On busy days like these I really like to use my crock pot to cook dinner. I get everything ready the night before.  Then the next morning all I have to do is take it out of the fridge and plug it in.

An easy, quick and delicious crock pot meal to serve is Slow Cooker Beef Tortellini Soup.  Not only will this easy meal taste great, it is also economical.  I purchase frozen vegetables, stuffed frozen pastas and canned tomatoes on sale and use coupons to get the lowest possible price.  I am lucky that we have a large freezer and lots of shelves in our basement so I can stock up when prices are low.

My kids are very willing and able to help out in the kitchen so they can finish off dinner for me.  They just have a few simple jobs to do 25 minutes before we are ready to eat.
                                                          Spring is here
      Kid's to do list:
Stir in the green beans and frozen tortellini,
      add basil,
bake either a tube of crescents rolls or biscuits,
      make a salad,
      set the table
When 5PM rolls around and I am exhausted I sure am glad and that I won't have to think about cooking.  The whole family will enjoy a wonderful meal, relax and engage in lively conversation about our day.

You can check out the Life Made Delicious site for more great meal ideas!
