Under $100 Front Porch Spruce-up #WalmartFrugalHeroes

Last week I was asked to participate in the Walmart Frugal Heroes Challenge and gladly accepted!  I took on the challenge of prettying up my front porch for $100.  My porch needs some help!
Money Saving Tip:  I try to keep the colour palette to blues, greens and yellows.  These are easy summer home decor colours to find.  Every year I add a cushion, rug, planter ect. to keep it looking fresh at minimal cost.

Porch Seating

I have an old two person glider.  I'll be honest, it's seen better days, it's ten years old.  I also have a couple folding Adirondack chairs that are at least 10 years old (I'll be giving these a fresh coat of paint soon) and some yellow cushions from a patio set we no longer have.

You know that old saying~
Use it up,
Wear it out,
Make it do,
or do without

Yes, that.  Since a new glider wasn't in the budget and we always have a can of white metal paint around I painted it and she looks brand new!

I LOVE the little side table.  It folds up for easy storage in the winter and it was only $18!  The pillow is made of outdoor fabric and matches the rug, $9.84.  I also picked up a set of 4 glasses for fruity summer drinks for $10. Yes, I consider these glasses "decor" because they are pretty LOL

This outdoor rug is reversible, $17.88.  Isn't it nice?

The Flowers

I purchased 2 hanging baskets @ $8 each, 1 spike @ $2.48 and a 6 pack of stock for $2.  I broke up the plants and made a nice arrangement in my big pot and a small basket to sit on the porch ledge.

Check this out!  Glade citronella candles with a wooden crackling wick.  $9.97 for a three pack

My grand total with tax was $97.37 and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  Rusty is  happy too, he has a cozy place to have his afternoon nap!

Disclosure: Walmart Canada provided me with a $100 Walmart gift card for this challenge.  As always, the opinions on this blog are my own.

  2. This looks gorgeous! Nicely done - I love the rug, it really makes such a difference in the space. Now I'm kind of wishing I'd chosen the same challenge (my post won't be up 'til tomorrow)!
